Bonsai Care Companion is a private journal, care calendar, and species guide for bonsai growers. Keep notes and photos of each tree, schedule watering, pruning, wiring, repotting, and fertilising, and browse identification photos that ship with the app. Everything runs on your device — no account, no internet required, paid once, no ads.
Add a tree to your collection, then log notes and photos over time. Photos are taken with the device camera and stored with the journal on your iPhone. They never leave the device.
The calendar tracks water, prune, wire, repot, and fertilize tasks for the trees you keep. Upcoming work appears in the calendar; if you have granted notification permission, the app can also fire local reminders. A reminder is a prompt, not a hard rule — always check the tree before you water, prune, or wire.
Care reminders appear on the Calendar. If you have granted notification permission, the app also schedules system notifications via Apple's local UserNotifications. You can manage permission in iOS Settings → Notifications → Bonsai Care Companion.
The app includes a bundled species guide with identification photos stored locally on your device. You do not need a network connection to browse it, and looking up a species does not send anything off the phone.
Because it is literally true. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no ads. Journal entries, photos, the care calendar, and the species guide live on your device (SwiftData and UserDefaults). The app works in airplane mode from day one.
No. Bonsai Care Companion is a one-time App Store purchase. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, and no ad-supported tier.
No. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no registration of any kind. Apple's App Store purchase is handled entirely by Apple; we receive only an anonymous sales aggregate — never your name, email address, or Apple ID.

Bonsai Care Companion is een privéjournaal, verzorgingskalender en soortengids voor bonsaikwekers. Houd notities en foto's per boom bij, plan watergeven, snoeien, bedraden, verpotten en bemesten, en blader door identificatiefoto's die bij de app horen. Alles draait op je toestel — geen account, geen internet nodig, eenmalig betalen, geen reclame.
Voeg een boom toe aan je collectie en log daarna notities en foto's in de tijd. Foto's neem je met de camera van het toestel; ze worden samen met het journaal op je iPhone bewaard. Ze verlaten het toestel niet.
De kalender volgt taken voor watergeven, snoeien, bedraden, verpotten en bemesten voor de bomen die je bijhoudt. Komend werk verschijnt in de kalender; als je meldingtoestemming hebt gegeven, kan de app ook lokale herinneringen sturen. Een herinnering is een prompt, geen harde regel — controleer de boom altijd voor je water geeft, snoeit of bedraadt.
Verzorgingsherinneringen verschijnen op de Kalender. Als je meldingtoestemming hebt verleend, plant de app ook systeemmeldingen via Apple's lokale UserNotifications. Je beheert de toestemming via iOS-instellingen → Meldingen → Bonsai Care Companion.
De app bevat een meegeleverde soortengids met identificatiefoto's die lokaal op je toestel staan. Je hebt geen netwerkverbinding nodig om te bladeren, en een soort opzoeken stuurt niets van de telefoon af.
