Garden Bed Planner is a square-foot gardening planner for raised beds. Lay out your beds on a grid, drop plants from the built-in catalog with companion-planting notes, schedule sow and transplant dates, and log harvests. Your data stays on your device, with optional iCloud sync to your own private Apple iCloud account if you want it on more than one device.
Open a garden, then tap Add Bed. Set the dimensions in feet (or metric — your choice), give it a name, and the app draws a square-foot grid you can plant on. You can add as many beds per garden as you want, and as many gardens as you want.
Open Settings → iCloud Sync and toggle it on. With sync enabled, your beds, plantings, harvests, and photo references are stored in your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit. That means: data is encrypted and tied to your Apple ID, it appears on every iPhone or iPad signed into the same Apple ID, and the publisher of this app (us) cannot read it. We never see your gardens. If you turn sync off, the app stops touching iCloud and continues to work fully on-device.
Yes. The full app works without a network. Plant catalog, beds, plantings, photos, harvests — all of it is local-first. iCloud sync is the only feature that needs a connection, and only when you want changes to flow to your other Apple devices. If you never sign into iCloud, the app simply runs as a single-device tracker and nothing leaves your phone.
Open a planting and tap Add Photo. iOS asks once for permission — to either pick from your photo library or take a fresh photo with the camera. The app only sees photos you explicitly select or capture; it never scans your library in the background. The photo reference is saved with the planting record and (if iCloud sync is on) syncs to your own iCloud just like the rest of your data.
Open a planting that's in the bed and tap Log Harvest. Enter the weight or count, pick the date, add an optional note, and save. Harvests stack on the planting record so you can see total yield per planting, per bed, per season. The harvest log is the basis for next year's "what worked" decisions — you can review past harvests by garden, bed, or plant variety.
Open Settings → Reset Garden Bed Planner. The action is irreversible and removes every garden, bed, planting, harvest, photo reference, and preference from the app's sandbox on your device. If iCloud sync is enabled and the reset is performed while signed in, the deletion will propagate to your private iCloud database too. Deleting the app from iOS achieves the on-device part of the same result; iCloud data may persist until iOS reaps it on its own schedule.
Because some users want to attach photos of their actual beds to plantings — a date-stamped record of what germinated, what got nibbled by slugs, what came in. The permissions are only used when you tap Add Photo. The app does not scan your library, does not pull EXIF, does not upload photos anywhere. If you never use the photo feature, the permissions never trigger.
Only you can. We hold nothing on any server we operate, so there is nothing for us to restore from. If you had iCloud sync enabled and you sign the new phone into the same Apple ID, your data will reappear once CloudKit catches up — that's exactly what private CloudKit is for. If you migrated via an encrypted iPhone backup (iTunes/Finder or iCloud Backup) without sync on, the app's local data should restore with it.

Garden Bed Planner is een vierkante-meter-tuin-planner voor verhoogde bedden. Teken je bedden op een raster, plaats planten uit de ingebouwde catalogus met goede-buren-tips, plan zaai- en uitplantdata, en registreer je oogsten. Je gegevens blijven op je toestel, met optionele iCloud-sync naar jouw eigen privé Apple iCloud-account als je ze op meerdere toestellen wil.
Open een tuin en tik op Bed toevoegen. Stel de afmetingen in (in voet of metrisch — jouw keuze), geef het bed een naam en de app tekent een vierkante-meter-raster waarop je kan planten. Je kan zoveel bedden per tuin toevoegen als je wil, en zoveel tuinen als je wil.
Open Instellingen → iCloud-sync en zet de schakelaar aan. Met sync aan worden je bedden, plantingen, oogsten en fotoverwijzingen bewaard in je eigen privé iCloud-database via Apple's CloudKit. Dat betekent: de gegevens zijn versleuteld en gekoppeld aan jouw Apple ID, ze verschijnen op elke iPhone of iPad die met dezelfde Apple ID is aangemeld, en de uitgever van deze app (wij) kan ze niet lezen. Wij zien jouw tuinen nooit. Zet je de sync uit, dan raakt de app iCloud niet meer aan en blijft alles lokaal werken.
Ja. De volledige app werkt zonder netwerk. Plantencatalogus, bedden, plantingen, foto's, oogsten — alles is lokaal-eerst. iCloud-sync is de enige functie die een verbinding nodig heeft, en alleen wanneer je wijzigingen naar je andere Apple-toestellen wil laten lopen. Meld je nooit aan bij iCloud, dan werkt de app gewoon als een tracker op één toestel en verlaat niets je telefoon.
Open een planting en tik op Foto toevoegen. iOS vraagt eenmalig toestemming — ofwel om uit je fotobibliotheek te kiezen, ofwel om een foto met de camera te maken. De app ziet alleen foto's die jij expliciet selecteert of vastlegt; ze scant je bibliotheek nooit op de achtergrond. De fotoverwijzing wordt bij de planting bewaard en (als iCloud-sync aanstaat) synchroniseert ze naar je eigen iCloud, net als de rest van je gegevens.
Open een planting in het bed en tik op Oogst registreren. Vul het gewicht of aantal in, kies de datum, voeg eventueel een notitie toe en bewaar. Oogsten stapelen op de planting-fiche, zodat je de totale opbrengst per planting, per bed, per seizoen ziet. Het oogstlogboek is de basis voor "wat werkte" beslissingen volgend jaar — je kan oogsten uit het verleden bekijken per tuin, per bed of per plantvariëteit.
Open Instellingen → Garden Bed Planner resetten. De actie is onomkeerbaar en wist elke tuin, bed, planting, oogst, fotoverwijzing en voorkeur uit de sandbox van de app op je toestel. Als iCloud-sync aanstaat en je voert de reset uit terwijl je aangemeld bent, dan plant de verwijdering zich ook door naar je privé iCloud-database. De app verwijderen uit iOS heeft hetzelfde lokale effect; de iCloud-gegevens kunnen blijven bestaan tot iOS ze op het eigen ritme opruimt.
Omdat sommige gebruikers foto's van hun echte bedden willen koppelen aan plantingen — een gedateerde getuigenis van wat ontkiemde, wat door slakken werd opgegeten, wat binnenkwam. De toestemmingen worden alleen gebruikt wanneer je op Foto toevoegen tikt. De app scant je bibliotheek niet, leest geen EXIF, uploadt foto's nergens heen. Gebruik je de foto-functie nooit, dan worden de toestemmingen ook nooit geactiveerd.
Alleen jij kan dat. Wij bewaren niets op een server die wij beheren, dus is er niets om vanaf te herstellen. Had je iCloud-sync aanstaan en meld je je nieuwe telefoon aan met dezelfde Apple ID, dan komen je gegevens vanzelf terug zodra CloudKit bijgewerkt is — daar dient privé CloudKit precies voor. Heb je via een versleutelde iPhone-back-up gemigreerd (iTunes/Finder of iCloud-back-up) zonder sync, dan zou de lokale data van de app mee moeten terugkomen.
